The 2004 National Conference of the Society of Composers, Inc. will be held March 3-6 at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma. Scores will be accepted from members of the Society of Composers, Inc. Each composer may submit one or two pieces. There is no established limit on duration but feasibility of performance will, of course, be a consideration.

Selection Process:
The adjudication process for compositions will be in consultation with the Conference Chair and the performance faculty of The University of Central Oklahoma School of Music. Adjudication criteria will include performability, length, special instrumentation requirements, and program design.

Selection of paper- and panel presentations will be made by a jury drawn from the SCI membership.

SCI composers may submit scores for the following instruments:
Solo or any combination of Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, French horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, Percussion, Piano, Harp and Voice. Other instrumentation may be available to accommodate some selected pieces. Music theatre scenes and opera scenes will also be considered. Electro-acoustic music including pieces for acoustic soloist or ensemble and electronics, or playback alone is welcomed and encouraged.

Acceptable formats for electroacoustic music:
DAT, and CD playback are available. Every effort will be made to accommodate performance requirements.

Additionally, composers may bring their own performers.

The Society of Composers welcomes proposals for papers, panel discussions, workshops, and other demonstrations. Presentations are limited to twenty minutes. Panels, workshops, and other collaborative sessions may take up to fifty minutes. Proposals may deal with any aspect of composition and new music, including but not limited to, compositional techniques, career development, music technology, music preparation, performance supervision, cultural and stylistic context, and musical aesthetics.

Will Rogers is Oklahoma City's main airport and almost all major airlines fly there. mapquest.com could be used for specific driving routes to the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, a northern suburb of Oklahoma City.

From Will Rogers Airport: Go north on Meridian, right on Airport Road (east). take I-44 north (Tulsa, Wichita) to I-77 (I-235)(Broadway Extension), turn right on Second Street in Edmond. From the south: Go north I-35, past Moore and Oklahoma City, exit 141 and go left on Second Street. From the east: Go west on I-40, then go north on I-35, exit 141 and go left on Second Street.
