Arkansas State University is proud to host the 2004 SCI Region VI Conference in Jonesboro, Arkansas January 29-31. Please urge your student composers to submit works.

General Information

Submission Deadline for Compositions: September 5, 2003 (Postmark Deadline)
Submission Deadline for Papers/Presentations: September 5, 2003 (Postmark Deadline)
Notification to Accepted Composers: October 10, 2003
Notification to Accepted Papers/Presentations: October 10, 2003

Selection Process: Taking part in the evaluation process will be primarily the performers. However, the ASU composition students and faculty will also evaluate the selection process and may strongly encourage works that were not selected by the performers to be presented.

SCI composers may submit scores for the following instruments:
woodwinds, brass, percussion, voice, keyboard, guitar, and electronics

Available Ensembles:

Acceptable formats for electroacoustic music:

CD, DAT, ADAT, and DVD (submit two channel versions for each of these formats for evaluation). We hope to have an eight channel sound system for performance.

Additionally, composers may bring their own performers.

Region VI will also hold a paper/demonstration session. SCI Members that wish to present a topic related to the various aspects and processes of musical composition, or instrumentation may submit a paper for consideration.

Additional Conference Information

Selected participants will be required to submit a registration fees: $40 (full membership); $30 (student membership)

Video media artists please note: On Friday, January 30 (date subject to change), we will have "Movie Night," a concert of video works performed in the Fowler Center Drama Theater. Composers who have recent video pieces on DVD are strongly encouraged to submit their work for this concert. We will have a 5.1 surround sound system for performance, with speakers in their conventional positions (L,R,Ls,Rs,C).
