Special session with percussionist Evelyn Glennie

The Department of Music at Wayne State University will host the Society of Composers, Inc. Region V Conference from November 1-3, 2001. The conference will feature performances of new music by more than thirty guest composers from throughout the United States, including works by featured guest composer Samuel Adler of the Julliard School of Music. Performers will include a number of student soloists and ensembles including the WSU Orchestra (Kypros Markou, conductor), Wind Symphony (Douglas Bianchi, conductor), Concert Chorale (Dennis Tini, conductor), Choral Union (Norah Duncan IV), and Jazz Lab Band (Christopher Collins, director). Featured performers will include members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra who are on the faculty of the Department of Music.
